Oncology social work is focused on providing counseling and support to reduce stress for cancer patients and their families. Oncology social workers can assist with getting information to help better understand diagnosis and/or treatment options, coping with emotions patients experience due to their diagnosis, understanding social security/disability/insurance benefits, and applying for assistance programs.
