About Gooswa

Gooswa was started in 1987 by oncology social workers in the metro area and became incorporated August 5, 1991. Our purpose is to establish lines of communication among professional peers while enhancing professional growth and gaining mutual support from one another.

We are a professional and non-profit organization focusing on oncology social work issues. Our membership includes social workers from every major medical system in the Omaha/Metro and Council Bluffs areas. Membership is open to any social worker working with people affected by cancer or those interested in learning more about oncology social work. We welcome students enrolled in a bachelors or masters social work program as well. There is no membership fee for social workers and discounted continuing education is available to social workers throughout the year.

We meet multiple times throughout the year at The American Cancer Society (please see our calendar for meeting dates). We partner with the Omaha Chapter of Oncology Nursing Society to sponsor an oncology focused professional conference each spring. We are available throughout the year as a resource to each other for guidance on oncology related issues.
